Bio
Kristalis Sotomayor was born on September 14, 1998 in Humacao, Puerto Rico. She began in music guided by her father since she was 4 years old. When she turned 5 years old, her father took her to a School Of Music where she got accepted and started to develop seriously on music.
Presently, Kristalis continues studying and developing as a flutist and pianist as her second instrument. Some of Kristalis achievements are:
In 2006, Kristalis was 7 years old and was invited by the ex-superintend police to play as a soloist with the police band of Puerto Rico.
In 2008, when she was 10 years old, she auditioned to participate in her first symphonic experience playing in two concerts.
Since she was 10 years old, she has been first flutist of the Youth Symphony Orchestra Of Puerto Rico, the orchestra was invited to receive the ex USA president, Barack Obama in Puerto Rico.
In April 2013, she was soloist with the Symphony Orchestra "Ernesto Ramos Antonini" in the premiere of the musical play: "Gran Trio". The musical play was presented at the Conservatory Of Music Of Puerto Rico and afterwards at the Capitol.
She participated in a summer camp (2013) from Berklee College Of music where she won a scholarship to participate on the Five Week program.
In 2013 she won a summer scholarship at the summer camp "Luzerne Music Center" in New York. She obtained the first place in a competition as a soloist (2014).
She participated on the summer camp of Berklee College Of Music in Puerto Rico again (2014) where she auditioned and won a Full tuition scholarship to study at the university of Berklee College Of Music in Boston.
She has had the experience of learn and participate in different Master Class with recognized flute players as: Tadeo Cohelo, Marina Picinini, Alheli Pimienta, Josue Casillas, Emmanuel phased, Jeffrey Khaner and others.
In June 2015 she was invited by the Police band Of Puerto Rico to present a workshop about her practice method. She explained and provided a lot of advices about techniques learned with her instrument. During this workshop, she also played several music pieces.
Since she was 5 years old until today, she has been doing special performances in different activities such as: school, graduations, public places, weddings, universities, and corporate activities in different musical genres.
