Kristalis was born on September 14, 1998 in Humacao, Puerto Rico. She began in music guided by her father since she was 4 years old. When she turned 5 years old, her father took her to an school of music where she starts to develop as a musician  

 

  Presently, Kristalis continues studying and developing as a flutist and pianist as her second instrument.

 

    Some of Kristalis achievements are: 

 

---- In 2006, Kristalis was 7 years old and was invited by the ex-superintendent police, Pedro Toledo, to play as a soloist with the police band of P.R. She was also introduced to the ex- governor of Puerto Rico, Anibal Acevedo Vila.

 

 

---- When she was 7 years old, she played as a soloist  “ El Condor Pasa” and  was able to conduct the Police Band of Puerto Rico  (2006).

 

---- In 2008 , when she was 10 years old, she auditioned to participate in her first symphonic experience playing flute in two concerts in “Centro de Bellas Artes” of Santurce and “Escuela Libre de Musica” of Caguas.

 

 

---- In 2009, she was chosen to present a workshop entitled: “Esmero y Dedicación”. She was invited by the director of the band of police from Puerto Rico where she played some musical pieces with flute and piano. She also provided advices to other students in this workshop. 

 

---- In 2010, she was 10 years old and auditioned to participate as a soloist flutist in a Three Kings Day Concert . Kristalis was chosen and played with the Symphony of Puerto Rico. 

 

 ---- In 2011, she was 12 years old and auditioned to participate as a soloist flutist with the Symphonic of Puerto Rico at the “ Centro de Bellas Artes” in Santurce. She won the audition. 

 

—- Since she was 10 years old, she has been first flutist of the Youth Symphony Orchestra Of Puerto Rico. This orchestra was invited to receive the ex-USA president, Barack Obama in Puerto Rico.

 

----  In March 2012, she auditioned to participate in the symphonic experience playing as a flutist with the Puerto Rican symphonic at the “Centro de Bellas Artes” of Santurce. 

 

---- In October 2012, she auditioned for the scholarship (APAOS) at the school “Especializada Libre de Música Antonio Paoli” in Caguas Puerto Rico where she won and obtained a first place with a perfect punctuation.

 

---- In April 2013, she was soloist with the Symphonic Orchestra “ Ernesto Ramos Antonini” in the premiere of the musical play : “ Gran Trío” . She played flute, violin and cello. The musical play was presented  at the Conservatory Of Music of Puerto Rico and afterwards, in the Capitol.

 

——In 2011, she auditioned for fifth consecutive time  and was chosen to participate in Symphony Experience as a flutist with the Orchestra of Puerto Rico.

 

——She participated in a summer camp (2013) from Berklee in Puerto Rico. She auditioned and won a scholarship to participate during the summer of 2014.

 

— In 2013, she won a summer scholarship at the Luzerne Music Center in New York. She obtained the first place in a competition as a soloist flutist.

 

 

——She participated in the summer camp Berklee in Puerto Rico (2014) where she auditioned and won a scholarship to study a bachelor degree at the University of Berklee in Boston.

 

—— In May 2015, she won the competition of soloist of the “ Sinfonica Juvenil de Puerto Rico”. She played the piece Fantaisie Pastorale Hongroice.

 

---- In June 2015 she was invited by the Band of Police in Puerto Rico to present a workshop about her practice method. She explained and provided a lot of advices about techniques learned with her instrument. During this workshop, she also played several music pieces.

 

——In August 2015, she won the competition for second time as a soloist at Luzerne Music Center in Albany, New York. She presented the piece “El Carnaval de Venecia” (Briccialdi).

 

—— She has had the experience of learn and participate in different Master Class with recognized flute players as: Tadeo Cohelo, Marina Picinini,  Alhleli Pimienta, Josue Casillas,  Emmanuel Pahud, Jeffrey Khaner and others. 

 

 

---- Since she was 5 years old until today, she has been doing special performances in different activities such as: school, graduations, public places, weddings, universities, and corporate activities in different musical genres. 

 

 

  Presently, Kristalis Sotomayor has more than 140 videos on youtube about her performances in some of different activities mentioned here and other videos about her musical abilities.
